In Theory Class

I took a presentation by John Lynn who has a Bachelor and Master Degree of Architecture from Michigan University. He used to build religious buildings and hospitalities. John is working for 2030 challenge which is started by, an architect, Ed Mazria. He started his presentation by saying “Sustainability” which can have various meanings. He asked us that “If we were fish and if we were bird.” I think that he wanted to ask us about we are not the only one who lives in the earth; in addition, I could think that every creatures and human beings have different point of views from their place and lives. In the earth, there are no individuals because our environment is not ours; in other words, we should let our offspring to use environment which we are using and borrowing from our offspring. He mentioned about 2030 challenge with storm characteristics which involves agent of transformation, constructive and destructive, dynamic event, is not a place or thing, and is a process. This 2030 challenge is based on reducing Carbon footprint from current buildings, being neutral, and balance on our planet. This 2030 challenge is processing with “LEED” and “AIA 50 to 50” which have six steps of strategies. At the end of John Lynn’s presentation, he talked about Proximity Hotel which is located nearby Friendly Shopping Center as an example of 2030 challenge. At last, to maintain “Sustainability,” we need to know about the storm, find beauty, trust beauty, and live beauty. Everybody has their own point of views…
