"Archetype" is an ideal thing and it could be a writing a rule to architecture. "Prototype" is a bridge what takes you from archetype to the next. For example, “Both in form and in ornament, Roman design was based on Greek prototypes” (Blakemore, 67). "Hybrid" is about mixing form of other things. For example, archetype + prototype = hybrid. Therefore, these 3 terms can be the basic to build buildings. Blakemore states that "The interrelatedness of the influencing factors illustrates the dependence of Roman arts on the cultures of the other races. At the same time advances in technology (materials and construction techniques) allowed the Romans to attain innovations in spatial features which exceeded those cultures represented in their conquest (47)." Moreover, according to the textbook, “the mixing together of aspects of the sophisticated Minoan/Mycenean cultures with the pragmatism of the Dorians produced a unique Greek character, emphasizing inquisitiveness, a love of action, and the desire to achieve perfection in human intellectual and physical endeavors (220)."

Like these thumbnail drawings, archetypr, protype, and hybrid can meet the final ideal artifact throughout the process.
The best example for archetype, prototype, and hybrid would be the "Orders" which still be used in lots of architecture. There are 3 types of orders which have very strong political and cultural meanings such as Doric Order, "the most massive (Roth 30)", Ionic Order, "more slender (Roth 31)", and Corinthian Order, "slightly more slender (Roth 31)."

The Colosseum is a good example. As the Colosseum has 3 different types of orders in it, it shows the passage of time and which came from Greek architectural style.
"Source " is any kinds of material to build something in architectural fields as a chef needs knives, beef, vegetable, and so on to cook. For the historical aspect, the importance of sources would be more emphasized because it helps to understand the meaning of buildings and furniture which do not easily be understood. In the text book Blakemore said, “Documentary evidence from literary sources, reliefs, wall paintings, sarcophagi, and marble and bronze parts extend our knowledge about the characteristics of Roman furniture” (61).
"Entourage" is everything surround us such as people, nature environment, and objects on paper for vignette. In Drawing class, I faced "entourage" for the first time. If you are going to draw a person who is studying in class, desk, chair, blackboard and so on would be entourage of your vignette drawing. In the textbook, Roth helps to understand as saying “If a stony mountain outcrop loomed in the way, they simply cut through it” (250).

"Hierarchy" is a way of putting social meaning into building in architectural field. For example, acropolis in Athens is consist of Parthenon, Propylaia, Erechteion, and Temple of Athena Nike to express hierarchy on the top of mountain where acropolis is located. Roth said, "...a general term for "high city," or rocky outcropping (222)." And also, there are some similar thing to show hierarchy from my classes such as line-weight, close and far in drawing, light and shadow and so on. Usually, it is easier to understand about hierarchy is from vertical line on building and furniture such as top of building is for higher class people and God and well-drafted chair is for leaders and lower or floor are for lower class people.

"Parts : Whole" seems like to contain every prompts of this week because prototype needs archetype to meet hybrid, orders and entourages are sources to create and express hierarchy artifact. In other words, every single parts need to be used to meet whole and whole contains every single parts based on archetype, prototype, hybrid, source (order, entourage), hierarchy.
